I went outside to park my car awhile ago, and the sky was the wildest shade of blue I've ever seen. With scattered pink clouds. It cast a weird tint over everything...the neighbor's lawn looked like astroturf and all the houses looked like they were made of plastic. It was pretty cool. Friday afternoon, Jerry, Mandy and Becky (Oso's sisters), and I drove to Elmhurst to visit Gem Comics and Al's Hobby Shop (rest in peace, Al). On the way I stopped for gas, and got a little go-cart lego set for cheap with my $10 purchase. Sweet. Jerry kept buggin me to let him put it together. I finally relelnted, but I made him take it apart when he was done. I'd like to take a moment to announce the Give Me Legos program. The Give Me Legos program is a program wherin you, the generous contributor, give me Legos. All contributions will go towards helping me wallow in my childhood lost. All contributors will recieve a cookie. One cookie per contribution per contributor, please. I know that a bit of a cookie backlog has developed since the first cookie was promised back in April. I assure everyone that all cookies will be delivered as promiesed, and with all due haste. Anyway, Elmhurst. I didn't have much cash to play with, but I did walk away with issues 2-4 of Pete the P'Od Postal Worker. Mindless violence...with a message. Pete delivers. I didn't see Oso Friday night to settle who'd work on Saturday, so we both showed up. Some lady dropped by and gave us homemade doughnuts. I don't know who she was or why she did that, but I've learned never question a free doughnut...lest you offend the doughnut. Mari came to visit for the first time since she got back from Kansas. She came to Oso's place bearing gifts. Simpson's shot glasses for Oso and the Krustylu Studios playset for me. At long last, my Krusty the Clown has been given a voice. We spent the afternoon sweating all over North Riverside (and boy was North Riverside ever pissed) in search of a present for her friend Jennifer's birthday. I picked up a can of olive drab spray paint and some generic Mentos. I have no idea why I bought the paint. Maybe I'll repaint my car camoflauge to counter the very conspicuous cheddar yellow HONDA decal over my windshield. Then we bought some exciting chicken-flavored products from Wendy's and hung at my place watching Holy Man. Aaron Carter is going down, even if I have to go through several Backstreet Boys to get to him...Aaron is getting kicked in the head. I won't kill him, just scramble him a little. Mari took a nap, but I had to kick her out at midnight and go to work for an hour. We have a few boarders at the wellness center this weekend. Two very traumatized cats, and a little papillion named Cro-Bar. Cro-Bar is rather old, and completely blinded by cataracts. Most dogs I've met who have lost one sense or another were assholes. Who can blame them? I'd probably be miffed too. But Cro-Bar is a sweetheart. He spends most of his time doing laps in his cage, with the occasional wall-in-the-face to break the monotony. I swear I have not doctored this picture in any way beyond removing the background. That's really his mug. Those eyes...poor thing. ![]() How can something so ass-ugly be so adorable? I went with Mud Girl to see Jurassic Park III. It was entertaining, no regrets. We had fun predicting the predictable plot before it happened. Oh! Oh! I got more presents from Mud Girl. She bought me a sack o' plasic army guys, and a thing of Magic Rocks! She said I needed some retro toys to balance with my big honkin' robot collection...it's a feng shui thing. I don't know how long they take to grow, but I'll keep you all posted on the progress of the Magic Rocks. Seems like I'm forgetting some fascinating and highly-relevant detail from the past three days, but I'm too tired to care. At the beginning of this entry, I mentioned having just witnessed a really neat blue sky..that's explained by the fact that I started writing this four hours ago. I stopped midway through to take a leak and finish several novels. flame on! - 2004-08-19 it's fun to say "shitcock" - 2004-08-14 hockey van - 2004-08-12 S.M.A.,A.M. - 2004-04-11 I heart sesame chicken - 2004-03-11 previous - diaryrings - next ![]() |
